BACKGROUND
The National Federation of Independent Business Legal Foundation, a public interest law firm established to serve as the voice of small business in the nation's courts, seeks a staff attorney for its Washington, D.C. office. We litigate precedent-setting cases that will influence small business' bottom line and provide small business with easy-to-understand guidance on important legal issues.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
1. Juris Doctorate Degree with 1-3 years of litigation experience. Clerkship experience preferred.
2. Professional, energetic self-starter with strong academic record and excellent organizational, interpersonal, oral and written communications skills.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for managing cases and legal work for the NFIB Legal Foundation. Implements litigation plan for the Legal Foundation to ensure that established organizational goals are achieved. Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to: coordinate litigation and other legal activities with the organization's Executive Director; identify and perform initial screening of cases for Foundation involvement; identify and network with attorneys nationwide; work with outside counsel on litigation; identify and develop legal guidance documents for small business owners; write legal issue papers for publication; and manage 2-4 Law Fellows and Law Clerks. Performs other projects as directed.
