There comes a point where we mistrust the media and begin the trust the masses. The wisdom of crowds suggests that though the masses might have a lot of noise, the agregate voice of the masses is generally more correct then the "experts."
The blogosphere is Media for the Masses 1.0. here milions of people report news, dissect news, distribute news. From business to politics to entertainment to sports to technology to … the masses rule. It started by the masses taking their cues from the media … now it can be argued that the media is taking its cues from the masses.
Media for the Masses 2.0 is the participatory media. Where thousands of amateurs become journalists -- filing stories, videos, photos, and sound. The first such sute that I have seen is ParMedia
which just launched this week. ParMedia, based in San Franicsco, wants to
create the world's largest gathering place of multi-media content and exchange of ideas that eliminates censorship, spin, and manipulation of content.
Essentially, anybody with an internet connection or a cellular phone can contribute any information of any type.
